Is It Even Worth Using All These Creams And Medicines To Try And Stop The Spread Of Vitiligo?

A MyVitiligoTeam Member asked a question 💭
Port Elizabeth, ZA

I used a cream called Protopic 0,1%

For the first 3 months it removed a spot on my neck. After a while it stopped working and the spread of my vitiligo started to increase.

I also was recommended to take vitamin D tablets (1000 ICU) and Zinc. I have found that the spread is not reversing or slowing down. Seeing that there actually isn't really a cure, I have come to a point where I have stopped using the creams.

A MyVitiligoTeam Member

Yes, I think so. When I first had it, it was during the beginning of menopause. I assumed it was hormones, asking my doctor about it, but they said it would not cause vitiligo, but it happened at… read more

Has Anyone Been Successful Getting Opzelura?

A MyVitiligoTeam Member asked a question 💭
Indiana, PA

When I saw that Opzelura had received FDA approval for vitiligo, I scheduled an appointment with a dermatologist. The dermatologist seemed pessimistic that it would be approved by my insurance, so she discussed what I understood to be a compounding pharmacy that specialized in dermatology. I received a denial letter from the insurance company and contacted this specialized pharmacy. They said they had received a denial for Opzelura and there was no option to pay cash for this cream. Has anyone… read more
