Any One Out There With Segmental Vitiligo?

A MyVitiligoTeam Member asked a question 💭
Ft Lauderdale, FL

I have segmental vitiligo since Nov. 2021. I have 3 small spots on the top of my right foot (vent). I am 55 years old with no history in my family. I am presently treating it with Opzelura and UVB twice a week.... no changes. Anyone out there with similar scenario? I thank you in advance for any information you may provide....it will definitely be so much more than what my dermatologist has provided. Claudia

I am trying Opzelura and my prescription is to apply the cream twice a day. I have been using it for 6 months and have seen no results. I’m going to keep using it because I’ve heard it can take a long time.
Also, when I was pregnant, I got stretch marks and then I got spots on the stretch marks. The spots seem to appear when there is damage to the skin. I have one on my arm where doctors have taken blood for any blood tests. The best vein in my arm is in that area. I think it’s from being poked and prodded over the years. I’ve had Vitiligo for almost 50 years.

Thank you so very much for sharing your experience, Sandra!
I had some re-pigmentation with a product from Australia called Vitiligo Organics. However, I developed a rash to Berberis Vulgaris Root Bark, which is an active ingredient in the product so I had to stopped.
I take a variety of supplements but I have not tried the PABA. I just ordered it from Amazon and I will give it a go.
In addition, I massage my spots nightly sending them love and light and I visualize the melanocytes turning on like little lamps....the mind is a powerful tool!
Most importantly, I tell my body that I am so grateful for being such a wonderful vessel in which my spirit is able to travel in and then I ask God to how can this body serve a greater purpose, which is His purpose. Knowing that brings me an immense peace:)
Thank you again.

I have tried many different creams and the UVA light. The creams had no good results and have side effects with long use.
The UVA light has a big side effect, your liver!!!! I stopped after 2 years, it's not worth it. I'm sure your family and friends love you as you are. Stress is a big factor in this illness. I had to stop perms in my hair, the color came back on my scalp. Any damage to your body will make the white spots come. Childbirth is another stress and damage maker that will give you spots.
Pay attention to your body it will tell you everything.

It started when I was 45 with 3 spots on my arm. The doctors that I went to did not know what it was and treated it as a fungus. Then I went to another doctor my son recommended. She started a with few different creams the the UVA light. I did this for 3 years with no new spots but know color return.
5 years ago I started with a vitamin and now color has returned to my ears, forehead, I have one spot on my top lip that is starting to recover.
It is a slow changing, I see color on my hands and my chest. So I am hopeful. I think I have had this for 18 to 20 years. The vitamin I take is PABA, if you can go to a knowledgeable holistic doctor, it would be great. There is one in DC, Dr Sullivan.
Check the side effects for some of the creams and the UVA light.
Be blessed

If you don’t mind me asking…Which side of the body and how expansive is the area affected? And age range please.
Have a great 4th of July!
