First World Problem/question...lol...helpful Suggestions On Not Stressing Over This?

So true first world problem....as part of a performance award in my corporate role, will get to go to a resort in Mexico. I ought to be thrilled. Yet, my anxiety over how to not be "the weird one" and avoid the sun on the beach while trying to be part of the group has me a bit stressed. Self imposed anxiety, right? Anyone else have universal vitiligo and try to "fit in" on a flipping beach? Lol...

Go and enjoy yourself please don’t let what others may think or say keep you from going. I love the beach at first it was challenging ppl looking at you like a freak. I go I put on my 2 piece and enjoy myself we get one shot at this thing called life so live.

I am wondering the same thing. I have always tried to cover up my Vitiligo and I really don’t talk about it with anyone. I can not figure out how to tackle that situation. I feel like I should not have to explain why I have blotchy skin, especially not to coworkers. When I was younger, I could pretty much cover it up. Now, I have so many areas I can’t do that. I would love to go on a tropical vacation, but I don’t have enough confidence to do so. I don’t think that’s a first world problem. It’s much deeper than that. I know I’m not giving you helpful suggestions, but know you are not alone in the situation.

Please understand the only reason I uged her not to go to the beach, I would think all of you know, when we have lost our Epidermis, we have really no protection against skin cancer.. Even at my old age, because I am 99'9% depimentated, I do not do much sun. If any of you saw me, you would think I was just pale.. Please all of you protect yourselves as much as possible.

I encourage you not to go. But, if you are insisting on going, be sure to have a big umbrella, try to stay under the shade as much as possible.. As for as your skin I am assuming you are blotchie,, I know it is tough on you younger folks, just do youself a favor and do all you can to protect yourself from the sun..

Aside from concerns about sun exposure as somone else mentioned, which is valid, I agree with others on the importance of not letting your condition limit you from social events. A counselor offered me this mantra to tell myself: "It's them, not me." Meaning, that if someone has a problem with my vitiligo, that's a personal issue they have with themselves not a problem with me. It is good perspective to keep in mind. You may want to come up with something similar. Another thing I will share is that I went to the beach one summer when my vitiligo was not as prevalent, and saw a man enjoying the beach with his family. He had more widespread vitiligo and I was so inspired by him and how much fun he appeared to be having. I keep that in mind to overcome mg own fears and anxiety. I bet seeing you out there on the beach could/will inspire someone, too. Either way, congrats on your achievements and hope you enjoy!
