What's The Most Important Thing You Learned About Living With Vitiligo This Past Year?
I have counted my vitiligo as something that makes me unique and memorable. I'm 74 and had it most of my life, mine has expanded, and any time now, I may be almost completely paper white. It is a unique adventure, and I work to be positive about it.
After years of covering, concealing, and blending - I've just given up on that.
This is who I am, and makes me unique. Those that accept me are welcomed. Those that are afraid of me are simply stupid, and undeserving of my time and attention. Just check the UV report daily, wear appropriate sunscreen to protect your skin, and live your life to the fullest.
I have learned that I need self acceptance and love. Self acceptance is a journey and everyone moves at their own pace. No one should rush you on that journey.
I learn to live with my patches.
I’m not a shame of my body.
Every day I look in the mirror and I said this.
I AM BEAUTIFUL
I AM LOVED
I AM FINE
I DONT NEED TO BE LIKE THEM
I JUST NEED TO BE LIKE ME
Be kind and educate everyone around me. I am on a mission to speak to the younger generation about being grateful.
