Has Anyone Else Ordered A Home Phototherapy "machine"?
Dr. Lim just approved this for me as it is 40 minutes to treatment each way and getting harder with work. I am just wondering if it will be a big machine as well, how would I operate it alone, and where would I put it?
Would love to hear from someone who has done this.
And - I am not even sure yet if my insurance will cover it yet.
Have a great day!
I have the UVBiotech 10 lamp unit. I have been using it at home for 4 years. It has helped my vitiligo on legs and arms. I did have it on my face but went to the Dermatologist who used the XTRAC laser and it went away after 10 months.
I still use my at home unit consistently 2 -3 times a week. This condition is difficult to treat but I refuse to give up.
Enjoy your home unit. It beats going to the Doctor's office so much!
Thank you so much everyone. I appreciate your comments and shares.
Daavlin just contacted me and it appears to be a big unit. I am looking forward to not going to the the doc's anymore for treatment, however, I did get burned on my last treatment ... it's been four days and it's still pretty bad. I don't now what happened as the time was the same (1 minute).
Price depends on size of instrument and possibly manufacturing company. I only know one company which is where i got mine from. The biggest one is a 6 foot machine and it’s around $5-7k I believe. The machine is heavy so once you decide on a place, you want to have it stay put. Home phototherapy is so convenient but navigating dosage might be tricky if you are not used to it. Good luck :)
I started NB UVB in 2002 in a dermatologist's office. The PA I was dealing with suggested a home unit after around a year of light treatments in their office. My insurance company paid for it. I doubt they would today since they won't approve Opzelura. The PA order a 6 foot unit with 6 bulbs from National Biological Corp. This is the unit https://www.natbiocorp.com/our-units/panosol-3d.... I have been using it on and off for 20 years. I've be using it consistently since last January in conjunction with Tofacitinib from a compounding pharmacy. I'm slowly repigmenting in most areas of my body.
I use Dermalume 2X from National Biological Corp. UVB Narrowband. Use it twice a week. Improvement is slow. If nothing else, it stops the spread.
